Harry and his heartworm

February 1, 2018 Leave a Comment

Harry arrived at the shelter after finding him in our lane, he had been clearly dumped due to old age and ill heath. Harry is very thin and was taken to the vets for tests and if possible castration.

Sadly Harry tested positive for heart worm, this can be cured but the treatment is harsh on the body and needs restricted exercise. Harry has had the first phase of his treatment but has had complications and ended up at the vets on a drip for a few days. He is now been nursed at the shelter and we are hoping he is on the road to recovery.

Helping Harry comes with a hefty vet bill, so far to date it is 300 euros with more treatment needed in the middle of the month. Harry is currently on a concoction of medications which he happily eats when they are hidden inside hotdogs!!
